Passenger Information Monitor (PIM)
Recessed into the taxi partition and viewable from the backseat our Passenger Information Monitor (PIM) is an advanced mobile computer offering taxi riders the most freedom and the highest quality features on a sturdy "ATM-grade" touch screen built especially to withstand vigorous use in New York City taxicabs.
The PIM is the taxi rider's access pass to:
- Paying fares quickly and easily with their choice of credit or debit card, or cash.
- Tracking their journey on a dual view map of the city.
- Watching and interacting on their own personal taxi television with entertaining content and relevant information.
- Calculating tips with easy to use percentage buttons, monitoring tolls and surcharges right from the back seat.
CMT's Driver Interactive Unit (DIU)
The Driver Interactive Unit (DIU) is the driver's system interface. Using the DIU the driver can sign on or off of of the system with a secure PIN. It is also the driver's primary tool for interacting with the PIM and in particular, for assisting passengers with credit and debit card payments. Our DIU, the state-of-the-art Navman terminal, is a small, multi-functional terminal that is installed to the right side of the steering wheel in close reach and easily viewable from the driver's seat. It features easy-to-use buttons that correspond to various responses that appear on the screen - depending upon the action that is currently taking place in the cab. For example, the driver facilitates payment transactions by selecting the buttons that correspond to simple responses like "yes" and "no" in response to questions like "are all amounts entered correct?"
The DIU also displays text messages from the FleetNet internet portal. Some text messages require no responses. Others will prompt the driver to respond using pre-set responses on the DIU. Pre-defined text messages can also be sent from the driver to the fleet.
